Amor del bueno

September 7, 2018

Is it just me, or is there something familiar about this young man who is not missing any fingers? (Rafael.) (It’s Rafael.)

  • If I had to translate it, I’d say “amor del bueno” sounds like “that good good love.”
  • With those tribal tattoos and the kind of patches on the vest (Molotov, CafĂ© Tacvba), seems like I’m implying a certain decade, eh?
  • I know you’re thinking of a certain question. Worry not, I am here to answer it. Yes, Rafael is slightly nearsighted.

I wanted to draw Iolanthe hanging out in her new apartment, quiet and tired and probably before the whole thing with Amparo disappearing happened.

I promise you now that Iolanthe gets a happy ending. In Arc 2, she’s going to have to deal with a lot. She’ll meet ghosts, travel to the land of the dead, learn about Bright World, deal with grief, and have to make some hard decisions.

I promise, though, by the end of this story, she’ll not only get a happy ending: she’ll be triumphant.

[Filler 1/8] Let’s go to the beach!

Dip your toes in. B)

I’m taking a little break between arcs, and I’m using that as a chance to drop some pinups, bits of lore, soundtrack, so on and so forth. For now, here we are: Death and her three dogs. One from our world to the land of the dead, one from the land of the dead to Bright World, and one from our world to Bright World.

That’s how dogs work, right?

Find the door

Aug 24, 2018

Or “Find out that there’s a door,” I suppose, if we’re speaking in metaphors.

And that’s it for Arc 1 of 3. The second arc will be the size of this one, and the third slightly shorter.

Understatement

Aug 17, 2018

As for the translation… uh, it’s kind of hard to get across. I suppose “this, too, shall pass,” is the closest in spirit to it. Then “take care,” and finally, “outta my way, idiot.”

There wasn’t even a door there before.

Panel 1: “Welcome. And what a surprise to see you here.” “I didn’t come to see you, vermin.”

Panel 2: “Look at [how scruffy] you [are], Fawn. And me [reduced to] asking for your help.”

Panel 5: IDK, something like “waitasecond waitasecond,” I guess.

Panel 6: “YIP” means “HELLO”

An unannounced visitor

July 31, 2018

I wish I could tell you what this voice sounds like. This voice is clearly old but still sharp. This voice is aggressive and swears a lot. And you’ll meet its owner on Friday.
