Interestingly, Juliana is putting on lipstick for herself, not so much for the patrons of Mimí’s bar. The vast majority of Bright World residents don’t see humans as ‘beautiful’ or ‘sexy’ any more than you might about a nice steak or a bowl of soup. The exceptions are humans themselves – or creatures who started out as human.

Mimí’s home and her bar are right next to each other.

(This design might be familiar to you, if you have ever stayed where I grew up. When we’d visit my aunts, we’d pass by that building – well, in Cd. Juárez it is a building. In Bright World, it is part of a larger structure, and really only has one room, which we won’t see for many issues. Really, no one wants to see the inside of that room. Juliana has told you what occurs there.)
